We are very fortunate to have two of the planet’s most fêted and in-demand dancers in our Melbourne HQ right now. Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev once danced with the Bolshoi Ballet; they are now with the Mikhailovsky Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. The couple are renowned for their interpretation of Basilio and Kitri, and will be starring in our Melbourne season of Don Quixote.
Here’s what The Financial Times has to say about their performance in Don Q: “Osipova and Vasiliev must be seen to be believed, such is their mastery of the roles, their fizzing characterisation and the gravity-defying nature of their dancing. Both dancers appear to spend more time in the air than not and, when earth-bound, spin like proverbial tops, tirelessly whipping the audience up into a froth of excitement.”
Is it any wonder we’re excited?
There are still some tickets left for their performances on the 16 and 18 March – hurry!
